Project 1 – Layer Blends Workshop

October 8, 2010 § Leave a comment

The purpose of this workshop was to create a graphic using blended images in photoshop composed from textural images taken from the internet. Inspired by a selection of words provided such as colour, nature and night.

I began by using a concrete texture to give the image an urban atmosphere and then I added the metallic texture of a worn shutter with white stains that reminded me of clouds. I used hard/light blending mode to mix these two images. On Google I found a traditional Brighton skyline; I removed the background, and desaturated the remaining image. To give more colour to the image I found a colour splatter and I added this to my image. The first one looks like colour trees, and the second one gives more energy to the image. I setted those two layers with Multiply blending mode. The final result is my vision of Brighton, colourfull but at the same time quite dark.

Where Am I?
